Black Writers Weekend expands nationwide this year, bringing its celebrated literary festival to six U.S. cities. Alongside the flagship Atlanta event held the first weekend of August, the festival will host pop-up experiences in Los Angeles, Newark, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Dallas.
Each city will screen Dear Black Writers, a powerful new documentary chronicling the festival’s decade-long journey and the creative community it has built. More than a film, Dear Black Writers is a love letter to Black creativity, spotlighting the storytellers, dreamers, and changemakers shaping Black voices in publishing and entertainment.
A celebration of creativity, culture, and community, offering you the chance to witness live readings that will transport you, electrifying parties that will ignite your spirit, captivating movie screenings that will leave you spellbound, and enlightening masterclasses that will deepen your appreciation for the craft.
