Atlanta’s Home Team Gets Its Moment

Categories: PlacemakingNews

On August 20th we celebrated Atlanta’s Home Team at Gallery FC!

The Home Team was made up of the seventy-five+ artists that were commissioned to create public artworks across Atlanta in preparation for the World Cup. These incredible people climbed the scaffolding, picked up the brushes, put in the hours, and made sure that when the world arrived, Atlanta looked fantastic!

So, naturally, we had to throw them a party.

The Home Team Celebration brought together artists, friends, partners, and some of our favorite Downtown people for an evening that was really about one thing: celebrating the incredible creative talent that showed up for this city.

There was art to see, hugs given and received, and much conversation about how gorgeous Downtown looks. We saw lots of familiar faces and welcomed plenty of new ones.

We celebrated because these murals were never just decoration for a big event. They were a way for us to tell our stories, showcase our talent and celebrate our city

To every artist who picked up a brush for Atlanta: thank you. We loved getting the chance to celebrate you.

And because a good party deserves photographic evidence, photographer Matt Miller was there to capture it all.

If you missed the celebration, you haven’t missed Home Team. The exhibition is on view at Gallery FC through October 9, 2026, and it’s free and open to the public. Go see it!

Home Team is presented by Downtown Atlanta Inc. and Fulton County Arts & Culture, in partnership with ASHA Advisory and Art in the Paint, and hosted by Gallery FC.
