Elementālis is a large-scale projection mapping installation breathing new life into Oakland Cemetery's historic entrance arch. Over 100 independently mapped sectors transform the century-old brick and stone into a living canvas — cycling through the four seasons and their elemental forces. Spring winds carry butterflies across the surface; Summer fire chars and cracks the stone; Fall draws long shadows as the world prepares to rest; Winter water freezes everything into stillness. Then the cycle begins again. Through change, decay, and rebirth, Elementālis invites us to see this familiar landmark not as a fixed monument, but as something alive — temporary, and always becoming.
The artwork was presented in partnership with Illumine, a 9-night light-based art exhibition at Oakland Cemetery.
